Beckham Putra successfully added another accolade to his collection by leading Persib Bandung to the BRI Liga 1 title for the 2023/2024 season. Previously, he had also helped Maung Bandung secure championships in youth categories.
Persib Bandung clinched the BRI Liga 1 2023/2024 title by defeating Madura United with a 3-1 scoreline at Bangkalan Stadium on Friday night (May 31, 2024).
Beckham Putra netted one of the goals in that match, with Marc Klok and David da Silva, the top scorer of BRI Liga 1 2023/2024, adding the other two. All assists were provided by Ciro Alves.
Madura United managed to reduce the deficit to 1-3 with a penalty goal from Slamet Nurcahyo, but it wasn’t enough to stop Persib Bandung from taking home the BRI Liga 1 2023/2024 trophy with an aggregate score of 6-1.
Beckham Putra Nugraha, one of the goal scorers, expressed his joy at winning the title. Especially since he and the Bobotoh had been waiting for 10 years to bring the trophy back to Bandung.
The last time Persib Bandung won the Indonesian League was in 2014. Their first title after the Perserikatan era was in 1994.
“Of course, I’m very happy to bring Persib to the championship after waiting for 10 years,” said Beckham Putra Nugraha after the match.
Additionally, Etam, as he is affectionately known, felt elated to finally bring the championship medal back to Bandung. He had previously succeeded in winning titles at the U-16 and U-19 levels.
“This title is also important for Beckham, because when we won the U-16 and U-19 titles, and finally with the senior team, I can bring this medal back to Bandung,” he said with joy.
At the age of 17, Etam had already broken into the senior team. He is recorded as the first player born in the millennial era (the 2000s) to play for the Persib senior team.
Not only listed, but in Liga 1 2019, Beckham also earned the trust of coach Robert Alberts to appear in official matches. This is a remarkable achievement considering his young age.
Etam’s skills also attracted the attention of Indonesia’s U-19 National Team coach, Fakhri Husaini. Throughout the 2019 season, Etam only appeared in four matches for Persib as he often participated in the U-19 National Team’s international events.
Even more impressive, Etam is a product of the Persib Academy. His journey from Persib U-16 to U-19 has been accompanied by impressive achievements, including championship titles.
Etam has many dreams. The Bandung-born player, on October 29, 2001, carries a great responsibility to bring pride to his beloved club.
“Don’t be easily satisfied. Training is the key to success. Joining Persib is my pride as a Bandung native. I’m ready to give everything for this team that I love,” said the younger brother of Gian Zola.
