Borneo FC has officially introduced Ari Maring as their first new signing for the 2024-2025 Liga 1 season. The announcement was made through a video posted on Borneo FC’s official Instagram account on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Ari Maring is a winger who previously played for PSIM Yogyakarta in Liga 2 during the 2023-2024 season. The 26-year-old winger delivered an impressive performance with PSIM, recording 5 goals and 3 assists in 17 appearances. He nearly succeeded in helping PSIM Yogyakarta, nicknamed Laskar Mataram, earn promotion to Liga 1.
Ari is known for his playing style, which is similar to that of Borneo FC’s current winger, Sihran, characterized by speed and excellent individual skills. Coach Pieter Huistra of Borneo FC appears to appreciate the potential Ari brings to the team with his agility and quickness.

Borneo FC has signed Ari Maring on a three-year contract. On the club’s official website, they expressed their hope that Ari would contribute positively and become an integral part of their journey to achieve success in the upcoming Liga 1 season. Ari was born in Aileu, Timor Leste, which was once a province of Indonesia.
“Borneo FC Samarinda and Ari Maring have agreed to a three-season contract. During this period, the entire Pesut Etam team hopes that this player from Aileu, Timor Leste (formerly part of Indonesia), will make a positive contribution and play a crucial role in our quest to win our first Liga 1 title next season,” stated Borneo FC.
In preparation for the 2024-2025 Liga 1 season, Borneo FC has made significant changes to their squad. So far, they have released five foreign players who were part of last season’s team: Leo Lelis, Win Naing Tun, Silverio Junio, Felipe Cadenazzi, and Wiljan Pluim. Additionally, three local players, Ahmad Nur Hardianto, Rizky Dwi, and Agung Prasetyo, have also left the club.
Farid, the team secretary of Borneo FC, expressed his gratitude to Wiljan Pluim for his contributions, albeit brief. “Thank you for your hard work, Pluim, even though it was only for half a season, you made a positive impression. Your experience playing could inspire our younger players,” Farid said while bidding farewell to Wiljan Pluim.

In the past two weeks, Borneo FC Samarinda has been active in the transfer market. Besides releasing many players, they have also begun recruiting new talent to strengthen their squad. Ari Maring will replace Win Naing Tun on the right wing and provide cover for Stefano Lilipaly on the left flank.
“One of the priority positions to strengthen is the attack. As of today, three attackers are officially no longer with Borneo FC Samarinda for next season: Nur Hardianto, Win Naing Tun, and Felipe Cadenazzi. The club sees great potential in Ari Maring, who scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 17 matches in Liga 2 and the Liga 2 Promotion Playoffs with PSIM Yogyakarta last season,” the team stated on their official website.
Ari Maring is a talent from Eastern Indonesia, known for his speed and aggressive play on the wings. Although he has never competed in Liga 1, Borneo FC has given him a three-year contract to develop and contribute to the team.
“During this period, the entire Pesut Etam team hopes that this player from Aileu, Timor Leste (formerly part of Indonesia), will make a positive contribution and play a crucial role in our quest to win our first Liga 1 title next season,” the club concluded.
With Ari Maring’s arrival, Borneo FC hopes to strengthen their attacking line and achieve better results in the 2024-2025 Liga 1 season. The support from the club and fans will be crucial for Ari to deliver his best for Borneo FC.
