Ega Rizky has made his return as the goalkeeper for PSS Sleman this season. His name is closely associated with PSS, having served as their goalkeeper from 2018 to 2023. As the last line of defense for the Bianco Verde squad, he consistently provided comfort, confidence, and a sense of security for the team’s morale.
This solid track record is why PSS management decided to bring Ega Rizky back to strengthen Laskar Sembada for the 2024/2025 BRI Liga 1 season. The club’s need for a capable and dedicated goalkeeper is fulfilled with Ega’s return.
“I’m incredibly happy to be back home. I hope my return to PSS will be smooth, and I can deliver my best performance,” he said at Omah PSS, Sleman, on Thursday afternoon (July 4, 2024).
The return of this Banyumas, Central Java-born player to the Laskar Sembada squad comes amidst changes in the coaching composition and the introduction of a new foreign goalkeeper. According to Ega, this situation is a first-time experience for him.
“From my perspective, this is a positive development. It allows us to learn and gain new insights from the new coach and teammates like Alan,” he stated.
“I don’t see this as a competition. The most important thing is to support each other. The best player will play and contribute the most to the team’s success,” he added.
Despite his long tenure with PSS, Ega acknowledges the need for adaptation, as he essentially becomes a new member of the team again. The 31-year-old player mentioned that the presence of his colleagues who still play for PSS alongside him significantly aids his adaptation process.
“That greatly helps me adapt more quickly. Once again, it facilitates a faster adaptation than I anticipated,” he emphasized.
As they embark on this new season, Super Elja’s management has set a target to finish in the top 6 of the final standings, aiming to improve on last season’s performance. Ega has clearly expressed his desire to achieve this goal.
“My return to PSS is definitely to help the team meet the targets set by the management. Personally, I want to give my best performance in every match,” he concluded.
