The Indonesia U-17 national team has been placed in Group F for the 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers, following the draw held at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

In Group F, Indonesia U-17 will compete against the host nation Kuwait U-17, Australia U-17, and Northern Mariana Islands U-17. The AFC conducted the draw for 43 countries, dividing them into ten groups, each containing four to five teams.

The AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers are scheduled to take place from October 19-27, 2024. The ten group winners and the five best runners-up will advance to the final tournament in Saudi Arabia, set to occur from April 3-20, 2025.

The 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.

Currently, the Indonesia U-17 national team is undergoing a training camp in Yogyakarta, which has been ongoing for the past few months. Known as Garuda Asia, the team has played several friendly matches during this period.

Most recently, Indonesia U-17 played to a 1-1 draw against the Sports School (SKO) Ragunan at Manahan Stadium in Solo on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Before participating in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers, Indonesia U-17 will host the 2024 AFF U-16 Championship in Solo from June 24 to July 4, 2024.

“From these trial matches, I am still looking for the best formation to field in the 2024 AFF U-16 Championship. We will assess the performance of each player during the friendlies,” said Indonesia U-16 head coach, Nova Arianto.

“One day before the first match of the AFF U-16 Championship, we will finalize the 23-player squad. For now, our focus remains on conducting these trial matches,” Nova added.
