Persebaya Surabaya has officially announced the signing of Malik Risaldi, who played for Madura United last season, to navigate the tough competition of the upcoming season. This news was revealed through a post on Persebaya’s X account on Monday (June 17). Malik has been contracted for two seasons by the pride of Arek-Arek Suroboyo.
“Malik Risaldi, top local scorer of Liga 1 2023/2024, officially joins Persebaya,” the club stated.

Malik Risaldi, who was recently called up to the Indonesian national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, has been positioned by coach Paul Munster to fill the winger position. The Surabaya-born player showcased impressive performance with Madura United, scoring 13 goals in Liga 1 2023/2024, making him the top scorer for Laskar Sapeh Kerrab last season. He outperformed Hugo Gomes and Francisco Rivera, who each scored nine goals.
Malik’s outstanding performance opened the door for him to strengthen the Indonesian national team. He was called by Shin Tae Yong for a friendly match against Tanzania and two matches against Iraq and the Philippines in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. Malik played in the second half during the goalless draw against Tanzania, although he has yet to appear in a competitive match for the national team.
According to Transfermarkt, Malik played 33 times or 2,168 minutes with 11 goals and four assists for Madura United in the 2023/2024 season. His success highlights his crucial role in the team, not only as a goal scorer but also as a chance creator with 27 chances created and 15 dribbles throughout the season. Additional statistics for Malik include 68 shot attempts with a conversion ratio of 17.6%, 55% of which were on target, and 10.71 xG, reflecting the quality of his goal-scoring opportunities.

Before officially joining Persebaya, Malik Risaldi bid farewell to all management members of Madura United. Through his Instagram account @malikrisaldi77, he expressed his gratitude to the management, coaching staff, officials, and the entire Madura United FC family. He also thanked the supporters for their continuous support. “All the best to Madura United FC. All the good things I gained here will stay in my heart wherever I go. SALAM SETTONG DHERE. MADURA BERSATU,” he said.
