In what could be seen as a strategic move to keep their momentum alive during the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 break, Malut United embarked on a fruitful excursion to Malaysia. The Liga 1 club, fondly known as Laskar Kie Raha, returned with more than just match experiences—they brought back valuable lessons that could shape their season ahead.
The team’s trip to Malaysia wasn’t merely a change of scenery. It included two friendly matches against Kedah Darul Aman FC, a notable contender in the Malaysian Super League. The first encounter ended in a 1-1 draw, while Malut United secured a 3-1 victory in the second match, showcasing their ability to adapt and grow even in short spans.
“We’re grateful to Kedah Darul Aman FC for hosting us for these friendly matches in Alor, Kedah,” said Malut United’s head coach, Imran Nahumarury, as quoted by PT Liga Indonesia Baru. “These games provided us with crucial insights and lessons.”
For Imran, the benefits of this trip extended beyond just the match results. He emphasized how the experience bolstered the confidence of his squad. “The outcome of these friendlies is significant in boosting the confidence of both the team and individual players. We hope to carry this positive momentum into the BRI Liga 1 competition,” he added.
The trip also offered an invaluable opportunity for players who haven’t had much time on the pitch. Imran, who has always advocated for player development, saw these matches as a chance for those on the fringes of the starting lineup to gain match experience. “It’s essential to provide all players with the chance to experience the match atmosphere,” Imran explained. “Those who haven’t played much in the first three BRI Liga 1 games or who have had limited minutes needed to show the results of their training.”
The tour to Malaysia, therefore, wasn’t just about staying match-fit; it was a comprehensive team-building exercise that Imran hopes will translate into improved performances as the Liga 1 season progresses.
