Malut United FC continues to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 season. The newly promoted club has officially announced the signing of 30-year-old Brazilian defender Cassio Scheid. This move is aimed at ensuring the team can compete at the highest level of Indonesian football.
Cassio Scheid, standing at 186 cm, is ready to be a formidable presence in Malut United’s defense. His arrival is expected to bring hope and joy to the people of North Maluku and Maluku who support the team.
The central defender previously played for Ararat-Armenia in the Armenian Premier League, following his stint at BG Pathum United (BGPU). His experience in Armenia’s top division will be a valuable asset for Malut United.
With Scheid’s arrival, Malut United has now announced four foreign players for the 2024/2025 season. In addition to Scheid, the club has signed Tatsuro Nagamatsu (Japan), Wbeymar Angulo (Armenia-Colombia), and Adriano Castanheira (Switzerland-Portugal). Interestingly, Scheid, Angulo, and Castanheira have all previously played together in the Armenian Premier League with FC Ararat.
Angulo joined FC Ararat in early 2021, while Scheid and Castanheira joined in July 2023. The trio has significant experience playing together, including winning the 2023-2024 Armenian Cup. This camaraderie will continue as they don the same jersey for Malut United.
Malut United’s head coach, Imran Nahumarury, emphasized that all players were brought in according to the team’s needs. “Cassio Scheid will be a strong addition to our defense,” he said in the club’s official release on Friday, June 14, 2024.
Cassio Scheid was born on June 3, 1994, in Arroio do Meio, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This city is known for its population of German, Italian, Polish, and other European descendants. Scheid began his football journey with Club Atletico Juventus U20 in Sao Paulo. He also trained with Sao Carlos before leaving Brazil to start his professional career in Portugal in 2016.
In Portugal, Scheid played for SC Farense, a club from the southernmost region of Portugal. With Farense, he competed in the second division of the Portuguese League and helped the club gain promotion to the top tier in the 2020-2021 season. Scheid gained valuable experience with 808 minutes of playing time in the top division before moving to Varzim SC in the second division the following season.
Now, Cassio Scheid is ready to bring his experience and skills to Malut United. With his strong left foot and aerial prowess, Scheid is expected to bolster the defense and help Malut United compete in the 2024/2025 Liga 1 season.
