Persik Kediri has officially announced the signing of veteran midfielder Evan Dimas (29) for the upcoming 2024/25 Liga 1 Indonesia season. Evan Dimas, who previously played for PSIS Semarang in the second half of the 2023/24 season, is now ready to bring his experience and skills to the White Tigers.
This surprising move came after Evan Dimas’s contract was not renewed by PSIS Semarang. Evan, known as “Arek Suroboyo” due to his origins in Surabaya, chose to accept Persik Kediri’s offer. Persik Kediri’s head coach, Marcelo Rospide, explained the primary reasons for this signing through the club’s official website on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
According to Marcelo, the acquisition of Evan Dimas aims to strengthen Persik Kediri’s midfield. “Player recruitment is done according to the team’s needs and to replace players who have left. It is very risky to rely on only 1-2 players in one position,” said Marcelo. “With his experience, we hope Evan can provide the best contribution to Persik.”
Marcelo also highlighted Evan Dimas’s ability to play in various midfield positions as a strong reason for bringing him in. This adaptability is crucial in facing the new Liga 1 Indonesia regulations next season, which need to be approached wisely.
Evan Dimas has now played for three major clubs in East Java: Persebaya Surabaya, Arema FC, and now Persik Kediri. With experience playing for top clubs like Selangor FC, Barito Putera, Persija Jakarta, and Bhayangkara FC, Evan brings a wealth of experience to Persik.
Evan’s notable achievements include leading Bhayangkara FC to win the 2017 Liga 1 Indonesia and helping Arema FC win the 2022 President’s Cup. His illustrious senior career and significant role in the Indonesia U-19 national team showcase Evan Dimas as a reliable and high-quality player.
With Evan Dimas’s arrival, Persik Kediri hopes to strengthen their midfield engine and become serious contenders in the 2024/25 Liga 1 Indonesia season. Marcelo Rospide emphasized that each player recruitment must align with the team’s needs and the new PSSI regulations.
“The new PSSI regulations aim for the advancement of Indonesian football. However, any condition requires player recruitment that suits the team’s needs to strengthen the competition,” explained Rospide.
With all the experience and skills Evan Dimas brings, Persik Kediri supporters can look forward to significant contributions from this veteran midfielder. The East Java Explorer is ready to give his best for Macan Putih, navigating the 2024/25 Liga 1 Indonesia season with high spirit and dedication.
